Writing Grief Workshop- Friday Oct 17th, noon-1:30EST, on Zoom
We are holding your spot- yes, yours.
Hello beloved subscribers and rando readers out there!
I’m cohosting a “Writing Grief” workshop, on zoom this Friday Oct 17, from 12-1:30 EST- with Jane Hansen, a beloved friend and grief therapist.
We’ll provide a safe, nurturing container, a little psychoeducation from Jane, and a brief meditation to ground and access your inner life. We’ll free write to prompts, and have opportunities to share and be witnessed if you wish!
We extend a warm welcome to you to show up exactly (EXACTLY) as you are, learn just a little about 6 types of grief, feel and write with us in a safe container, for 90 minutes.
With the energy of a gathering supporting your process, you can spin your feels into language. Or drop into that familiar numbness to see if you find some feels lurking, which were longing for your attention.
You know- get it all out of your system and into a supportive space BEFORE NO KINGS DAY MARCH.
To join, you don’t have to “be “ a writer, whatever that is! Maybe you’ve never written? Maybe you write all the time? Perfect.
All forms of grief we carry (not just over deaths of loved ones!) are valid and ripe for exploration. Like that time you left your pregnancy journal on an airplane, poof, gone! (Raises hand). And when you called the airline in a sick panic not 30 minutes later, turns out they clean the trash out of those planes real quick, and no one cares about your personal items? That’s grief too.
Or the way my kids bawled about our old mini-van, RIP, when we finally, finally got a new (used) one? The old one was so defunct the door wouldn’t open more than a quarter of the way, the AC coughed sadly with puffs of wishful thinking, and the battery worked every other Monday. They missed that thing so hard. It was their childhood.
So please: Come as you are, with whatever you are carrying.
Reply to me as RSVP if you are coming and I’ll send you our zoom link. No other formal registration required! sara@essayintensive.com.
You can also share info about this workshop with friends who LOVE last minute commitments—but please have them RSVP to me.
Cost structure:
Paid subscribers to Motherink (BLESS Y’ALL!) are on the house!
We’re playing with a new structure where YOU JUST COME IF YOU WANT TO COME. At the end, if you can, you can pay the value for you.
So if your money is crying in a small piggy bank, and it’s not the time to spend, we want you there anyway! We are sure there is something here for you, because there is something calling out for air and space and communal witnessing in all of us.
I don’t use the word “all” lightly. (in fact, I usually edit it out of my clients’ writing)
Dad, can you come? :)
If we don’t see you Friday, may you protest in your preferred style on No Kings on Saturday Oct 18. They can try to mess with our rights, but they may not take away our dignity, our refusal, our peaceful resistance!
With heart,
SARA
